Born and raised in La Jolla, California, Erik has been in love with the San Diego coastline for more than three decades.
He’s stoked on the opportunity to craft these Breaks Selection shapes because board design and construction is a fusion of both the arts and sciences:
-“Although I have degrees in engineering, it’s always been the art (of shaping) that’s captivated me.”
It’s not surprising this creative aspect holds so much affinity for him. Erik is a professional designer and has worked for more than 10 years creating interactive tools and experiences. Besides his effort on these wave riding vehicles, he’s planned and executed hundreds of military field training exercises and also worked as a game designer on console and online titles.
-”People love identifying patterns within the noise of life experience. This is how we learn and have fun.”
It’s his time in the late 90’s as an Army Officer that’s had the biggest effect on his life and values:
-“From a philosophical standpoint, the best living I’ve done was as a young Infantry Leader. The culture was all about stepping up, no excuses, integrity and selfless service to your soldiers. My effort with Breaks Selection is a way for me to integrate these ideals I cherish with a craft I’m passionate about. I hope I can have the privilege of working with you on a board, providing you with a great experience and a great shape.”
Erik has been growing Breaks Selection one customer at a time since 2005.
